Usuluddin University is among the oldest private non-profit institutes of higher education in Iran established in 1996 in Qom. The founder of the institute was the late Sayed Morteza Askari, a highly respected researcher in the history of Islam with numerous valuable works. Very soon, the other branches of the college were established in Tehran, Dezfoul and Saveh.
Currently, Usuluddin University, presents undergraduate, and postgraduate programs (including Ph.D. programs) in the following fields of studies:

Our research department publishes two academic journals titled as: Quarterly on the Quranic – Literary Studies and Journal of Language Teaching, Literature and Linguistics. Also our publisher has published so far over 70 works, mostly in Persian, and in Arabic and English languages as well.

• Board of Trustees:
The Board of Trustees is the highest decision-making body at Usuluddin University. It assesses principles, and issues bylaws and regulations about the internal operations and develops policies and plans for effective functioning and administration of the university.
The President of the University is the Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for implementing policies developed by the Board of Trustees. The Board delegates authority to the President to adopt policies and procedures consistent with the Boards’ policies to manage the university. Currently, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki is the president of the university.
Biography of the President of Usuluddin University
Ayatollah Mohsen Araki
The President of Usuluddin University, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki was born in Najaf, 1334 (1955), in a well-educated family. His father, Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Habibollah Araki, was one of the well-known jurisprudents in Najaf seminary and a forerunner in the realm of religion. He has complied many books in the realm of Jurisprudence, Principles and many other religious areas.
Ayatollah Mohsen Araki learnt Quran and Golestan, the text books of first, second and thirds levels of elementary schools from his father and mother. Thereafter, for learning the Arabic Language and for completing elementary levels, the grand Ayatollah went to the school named “Montadi Al-Nashr”.
Ayatollah Mohsen Araki started his Seminary education since 1968, and learnt some of the introductory courses from his father, studied the rest of the courses with famous Seminary instructors such as Seyyed Abbas Khatam Yazdi, Hasan Mortazavi, Abdol Majid Roshani, Seyyed Ezzeddin Bahrol Oloum, Abbas Quchani, Muhammad Hadi Marefat, Seyyed Muhammad Baqer Hakim, Muhammad Taqi Javaheri, Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi and Seyyed Kazem Haeri.
After finishing these courses in 1353(1974), He attended in the Jurisprudence lessons of Ayatollah Khoei and learnt from him up to his trip to Qom. He also attended in the lessons of Jurisprudence and Principles taught by Ayatollah Muhammad Baqer Sadr. In 1975, he left Najaf to Qom due to the pressure of Baath government in Iraq.
Ayatollah Araki attended in the course taught by Ayatollah Mirza Kazem Tabrizi (4 years) and roughly completed the course of Jurisprudence and Principles of Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani.
Ayatollah Araki also studied some parts of “Asfar” in the course taught by Ayatollah Javadi Amoli and Ayatollah Motahhari. He also studied “Nihayat Al-Hikmah” with Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi and took part in the course of Hegel Philosophy taught by Ayatollah Beheshti during 1976-1978.

The grand Ayatollah wrote articles which were all published in various scientific Journals. Moreover, Ayatollah Araki wrote an introduction about Moqaddas Ardebili which was published in 1379, edited by Ayatollah Mojtaba Araqi, Ayatollah Eshtehardi and Ayatollah Yazdi.
The senior cleric was also prolific in the realm of editing, and published the book of “Al-Maqalat Al-Osoul” written by Mohaqqeq Araqi by the cooperation of H. I. Seyyed Monzer Hakim and the Islamic Thought Forum released the foresaid book.

Learning Persian Language
If you wish to learn Persian Language in Iran or through online courses, the language center of Usuluddin University can be one of your best choices. The Language Center of Usuluddin University presents various courses of Persian language for all levels of Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced, and also courses on History of Persian Language and Literature, History of Persian Art, Iranian Studies, Culture and Society of Iran and Calligraphy. Foreign students, Iranian nationals and Iranian applicants from abroad, foreigners residing in Iran, and non-Iranian students who study at Iranian universities may apply for the programs. Furthermore, the Center is a major source for students who are completing their dissertations. The tuition fee for learning Persian Language is $390 per semester.

General and Special Requirements for the Admission of International Students
Usuluddin University will admit students who are interested to pursue their study in Iran, in different humanities fields of study, Islamic studies and related areas.
۱٫ Being practically committed to Islamic commandments, to the laws of Islamic Republic of Iran and the observance of Islamic ethics
۲٫ Believing in Islamic principles and being interested in proximity of Islamic schools of thought
۱٫ Passing the oral test (interview) of the University
۲٫ High school diploma with the average grade of 12.5 (from 0-20 grading system) for under graduate applicants and average grade of 14 for M.A. applicants
Note 1: Having the minimum average of 15 for the courses of humanities for those applicants wanting to study towards MSc degree.
Note 2: Having the minimum average of 16 for Ph.D. degrees
۳٫ Maximum age of 32 for the applicants who desire to obtain M.A degree and 40 for PhD degree.
۴٫ Recommendation letter from three high school teachers or professors of the country where the applicant is graduated from.

۲٫ Photocopy from all documents related to high school diploma and higher education degree (Transcripts of records must be translated into English or French languages), and all of them must be authenticated by the education authorities and the Iranian embassy of the country where the student has graduated from, and be sent to Usuluddin University.
۳٫ Submission of certificate of health, temperament and a certificate of no-addiction.
۴٫ Submission of photocopy of a valid identification paper or passport.
۵٫ Submission of a written comment concerning the moral capacity of the applicant by the representative of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in the home country of the student.
۶٫ Providing three recommendation letters from previous professors (for M.A & Ph.D. applicants).
۷٫ A written letter of application seeking to study in Iran.
۸٫ A written comment concerning the financial capacity of the applicant by the representative of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in the home country of the student.
